Okay, you’re up there doing your MLM business opportunity presentation — you’ve got your power point, your whiteboard, your flip-chart, etc. You’re holding that marker, that clicker, etc… You begin your MLM business opportunity presentation and it’s going pretty well.
You have your prospects rapt attention. They’re listening, laughing at your jokes, nodding when you nod and ask them a “yes” question. They’re in the palm of your hand. One of them is even pulling out her iPhone to take pictures of your slides on the screen…
Your MLM business opportunity presentation is THAT good.
They see the freedom. They see the possibilities for their new life…They are starting to move from the “E” quadrant over to the “B” quadrant in their minds (if you don’t get this reference, you need to read this book by Robert Kiyosaki NOW)….This MLM Business opportunity presentation couldn’t be going better.
They loved your product. They went wild about your compensation plan for your MLM business opportunity. But suddenly the one that’s so excited (the one with the iPhone taking pictures and copious notes) begins to change.
You can almost see the FEAR come over her and snatch her away. But instead of the fear turning inward on her, it morphs into a weapon laser focused on …uh-oh…Y-O-U!
She suddenly turns into Super Pyramid-Hating Heckler Woman right there in the middle of your MLM business opportunity presentation. Aahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Suddenly, she puts her iPhone down and pen/paper down, and she’s spouting out the dreaded “pyramid objection” with her arms crossed in front of her. And she launches into a monologue about “pyramids”…The heads of all the other prospects turn to look at her as she attempts to take center stage.
What do you do?
Here’s 3 ways to handle this type of MLM Pyramid-Hating Hecker emerging at your MLM business opportunity presentation:
1 – THE DAVID WOOD RESPONSE.
Do what my buddy Dave Wood recommends. Stare at her quizzically for a second and say…”Really? (slight chuckle)…Pyramids haven’t been around for about 40 years…Where have you been?”…and then just get on with your MLM business opportunity presentation.
2 – THE CORPORATE PYRAMID RESPONSE.
Grab your marker and white board and draw out the structure of a traditional corporation, CEO at the top, SVPs, VPs, Middle Management…. all the way down to Assistants at the bottom… and ask her what that looks like. (If you do it right, it looks like a pyramid). Now ask her if the CEO gives a rats a&%# if the assistants at the bottom of the pyramid ever get wealthy…or if the CEO’s wealth is directly tied to the Assistant’s becoming successful and wealthy. She will probably shut up.
3 – THE TAKE AWAY.
Politely but firmly call her by her first name several times in the middle of her rant until she stops speaking and either do #1 and/or #2 and if those don’t work, tell her that this probably isn’t for her and invite her to leave your MLM business opportunity presentation.
Don’t be afraid of the take away! A Negative Nellie/Energy Vampire like that does not deserve your MLM Business Opportunity presentation or your time/energy.
If you’ve set up your presentation correctly in the beginning, you’ve probably told your prospects that some of them would be very excited by what they’re about to see and want to take action, some would see the opportunity but be too fearful to take action or some would see it and know it was not for them. At this point, you could remind the room of what you had said. Point out that this was proven true, and move on with the rest of your MLM business opportunity presentation like the Pro that you are.
Whoever remains after a heckler’s attempt to disrupt will likely be relieved that they are gone and even more open because the extreme of the life they are ready to change has been put in front of them in technicolor. They will be more committed and actually be “rooting” for you. They will see you as the leader that you are.
If you’re a positive-minded, glass-half-full person like me, you’ll see that it is actually a gift. A weird gift, but a gift nevertheless.
And, on top of the gift, the bonus is, you’ve now earned another stripe on your MLM uniform. Good for you! Once you have that experience under your belt, your confidence will spike ten-fold and you will know that no matter what comes your way, you are, as my good friend and mentor Ray Higdon likes to say UN-MESSABLE.
So, to you who have been heckled by a pyramid-hater at your MLM business opportunity presentation I say this: CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the big leagues!

Are You Ready To Get Started?
No, really. That was it. 1-Are 2-You 3-Ready 4-To 5-Get 6-Started
It occurred to me last night how fearful many new marketers (and even some experienced ones) are of asking for the sale. Let me backtrack….

Last night I was talking to a prospect that hunted me down (that happens quite a bit when you become adept at Attraction Marketing). I could tell she was ready. She gave me clear buy signs… and then she waited. She waited for me to lead her. She waited for me to close her. She waited for me to ASK HER FOR THE SALE.
When a prospect hunts you down and starts asking you questions about your business, that’s a pretty clear buy sign. Now I know it’s not always that easy. Sometimes they don’t hunt me down. Sometimes I’m just calling my leads like most diligent Network Marketers. However, leads – no matter where they come from – usually make it pretty clear when they are ready to buy. You just have to listen. And then….
YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK FOR THE SALE.

“Are you ready to get started right now?” “It sounds like you’re ready to get started now”…It’s not that hard. But if you don’t say it…or a version of it, it’s very unlikely your prospect is going to say to you “Where do I sign up?”. (Okay, that happens too, but it’s FAR less likely. And, if you wait your whole career in Network Marketing for laydown sales like that, you’re going to have a very small enterprise).
You must also remember that your downline does what you do, so if your hope is to just wait for the laydown sale and never learn any closing skills, guess what your downline is going to do? And guess how big your enterprise will be…And guess how big your checks will be?…Got a microscope?
So, to increase your chances of building a HUGE enterprise and getting HUGE checks, you must increase your closing skills in a HUGE way. And, to increase your closing skills you must face your fear and ASK FOR THE SALE. Even if you fear it. Even if it feels uncomfortable. You must feel the fear and do it anyway. You must be willing to stretch and get out of your comfort zone.
Even if they say no, it’s still good. You either clear away some lingering objections and close the sale or you realize they are not buying and move on. That’s it. Done. Next.
If you’ve connected with your prospect, shown them how to get into their right-brain thinking and imagine all the possibilities of the life they can have once they become successful…if you’ve shown them what’s possible and the value you offer…If all that is in place, when you say “Are you ready to get started right now?”, you may just get a YES!

Wow, that feels so good. You’re gonna love it when that happens. But first you must SAY IT!

Okay….You have an awesome product! You have THE best comp plan! You’re on THE best team in your company. So, why the heck is nobody signing up? Where is all that Network Marketing Success you keep hearing about?
Does this sound familiar? You are not alone. Many of us have been there before we figured out how to do Network Marketing the RIGHT way. When I say the RIGHT way, I mean for PROFIT. Otherwise, it’s just a hobby.
Most people try company after company, pre-launch this, new matrix that, energy drink this, vitamin that… looking for THE one that’s going to be successful. But here’s the secret that you haven’t figured out yet.
YOU are the reason that someone is going to join your Network Marketing business. YOU. Not your “fast-start bonus”, not your “spill-over” from your upline, not your super-amazing-fantastic-product that’s going to change everyone’s health. YOU.
Now you’re wondering, “What do you mean “YOU” and how can you apply it? Good question. Let’s get to it.

1. Attraction Marketing
People join people, not businesses. It doesn’t matter what product you have. You can create a successful business with ANY product. Yes, ANY product… Because people are going to join your business because of the leadership that you provide to them. They will join because they want to be on YOUR team. They will call you asking to sign up because of the VALUE that YOU provide.
What? People will be CALLING ME??? Yes! It’s called “Attraction Marketing”. If you are not familiar with this concept, run out right now and get “Magnetic Sponsoring” by Mike Dillard. You will thank me later.
2. Provide VALUE To Prospects – Stop Vomiting Your Opportunity All Over Them
Instead of blasting people with your opportunity via email, Facebook, in person, on the phone…whatever your method of operation is… Instead of that, you give them something of value – a piece of great training, a recorded webinar that taught you something useful, a link to an article that you found handy, an inspirational quote, a marketing tip that worked for you, a link to someone’s blog that has great information… I could go on and on with examples of things your prospects will find valuable. Get the picture?
Give them something good and they will be open to listening to what you have to say. Do it regularly. People will sign up. It’s the old “If You Build It, He Will Come” strategy.
3. Be Consistent
Providing value is great but if you’re not consistent with it, why would anyone pay attention? You must give this value to your prospects on a consistent basis so that they come to depend on you. They look forward to your emails. They actually run to open them. You want to condition them to open your emails, to look out for your posts, etc. on a daily basis. You’re training them to listen to you.
Results
One of two things will happen. Either they will call you asking about your business, and ready to sign up (Yes, this really happens to me on a daily basis!) OR they will be open to hearing about your opportunity when you bring it up…wouldn’t that be nice!? You know why? BECAUSE YOU’VE CONDITIONED THEM TO LISTEN TO YOU BY BEING CONSISTENT, AND PROVIDING VALUE.
It’s that simple. Follow this plan and they WILL come!

I had a disturbing call recently with a prospect and I simply felt compelled to share it. I was speaking with a relative newbie the other day. I asked her what her struggles were with her Network Marketing business. She responded, as many do, that getting leads was a struggle.
She’d hit that oh-so-familiar position that many of us do when we are starting out and have no marketing training. The one where you’ve hit the NFL Club. NFL = No Friends Left. You’ve tried prospecting all your friends and family and now they avoid you like the plague.
What now? Where do you get fresh leads?
So, I was answering that question for this newbie marketer, giving her strategies on how to generate her own leads for free on the internet, etc., when she told me a disturbing fact.
I asked her what kind of training her upline was giving her. What did they tell her to do to get leads? She took a big sigh of frustration and told me that she was unhappy with her upline. They weren’t doing what they’d promised to do.
What, pray tell, was that?, I wondered.
It seems her upline had promised her that if she signed up at the highest level (read: most expensive level) in this company, that they would populate her downline with tons of reps for her. They would be her own personal downline builder. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.
This kind of thing makes me crazy! There are some unscrupulous marketers out there that, in the interest of signing up anyone with a pulse, will say whatever the prospect wants to hear in order to get them IN. Cha-ching.
My point here is this: MLM is not a get-rich-quick scheme. There is no magic formula for INSTANT success. No shortcuts. You have to put some time and effort in. This is a business. Can you imagine starting a brick-and-mortar type business and expecting a line of customers lined up around the block the next day. No way. You know that building that kind of a business takes time. Why would a Network Marketing business be any different in that regard?
Yes, there are ways to shorten that time significanly. Learning how to leverage the internet is one of them. And that takes training. And commitment. You can build a HUGE Network Marketing business online (or offline) with proper marketing and recruiting training and a commitment to be serious about it. A commitment to treat it as a business and not a hobby. Remember, a business pays and a hobby costs.
The lesson here is this… If you are being told that someone else is willing to do all the work for you, and you just have to sit back and collect the enormous checks, you’re being taken. If you’re told that all you have to do is sign up 2 or 3 reps and then just sit back and watch that matrix fill up, you’re being fooled.

Wake up and smell the cappuccino. Don’t allow yourself to be seduced into this kind of thinking.
If you’re serious about really building a Network Marketing business, make sure your company provides training beyond “Make a list of 100 people that you know and start calling”. Make sure before you sign up with a Network Marketing company that they give phenomenal training on offline recruiting skills as well as online lead generation skills and most of all, marketing.
But most of all, make sure that your upline is giving you honest information on what it takes to build a successful Network Marketing business. A good upline will recruit you, not because you have a pulse, but because they see a leader in you and they will help you bring that out and give you the skills and tools necessary to be a major producer.
So, trust your instinct. There are many amazing opportunities out there… Many ways to make a 6 and 7-figure income in Network Marketing. Find a proper mentor who can show you the way, and you will have the prosperous business that you deserve!
To Your Abundance and Prosperity,
…I’ll give you a hint…they’re in the title of this article.
It can seem very daunting to talk to your mlm prospects at times. Perhaps you’re still a newbie, or you’ve had a bad day or whatever the reason. For many of you, even having done this for a while, you still get that anxious feeling in your stomach before (or during a call)… or worse yet, this anxiety keeps you from prospecting at all and turns you into a Master Procrastinator instead of a Master Closer and you start finding excuses not to get on the phone with your prospects at all. Disaster!
What sometimes happens is this…. So, you’re on the phone with a prospect and you suddenly blank… “What do I say to that???”, you’re thinking. Okay, when you get stuck, it’s always good to fall back on something comfortable – to whip a familiar tool out of your arsenal…
Open that tool chest and reach in there and grab these four words: “I just found out…”
So simple, but think of all the applications… Here are some examples of ways to use this simple phrase when you’re in a pickle.
I just found out how you can get gold and silver for very little cost and actually get paid in the process…Would you like to know how?
I just found out how to generate 67 leads from one email simply by cutting and pasting in 5 minutes flat…Wanna know how?
I just found out how to be at my son’s soccer game and generate 32 leads at the same time…Want to know how I do it?
One big thing though…did you notice that I always tagged a question on the end of the “I just found out…” You must do this if you want the conversation to continue…and you DO want it to continue now that you’ve piqued your prospect’s interest.
You can also use this as a great introduction when you’re out there in the world just doing your daily tasks…afterall, we’re always prospecting, right?
For example, you’re talking to your waitress at a restaurant; you’ve established a rapport. She’s got a great outgoing personality…you have an instinct about her entrepreneurial abilities. At some point during the conversation, you can say: You know Sue, I see how hard you are working, sweating, running around and expending all this effort just for few dollars here and there…Well, I just found out how you can earn $10,000 per month from the comfort of your home and never have to serve another dish again…Is that something you are interested in hearing more about?
If you do this right (and it’s pretty hard not to), they will be asking you to tell them about your business because you’ve piqued their interest. Isn’t it so much more fun to prospect when THEY ask YOU to tell them more!? YES!
