Okay….You have an awesome product! You have THE best comp plan! You’re on THE best team in your company. So, why the heck is nobody signing up? Where is all that Network Marketing Success you keep hearing about?
Does this sound familiar? You are not alone. Many of us have been there before we figured out how to do Network Marketing the RIGHT way. When I say the RIGHT way, I mean for PROFIT. Otherwise, it’s just a hobby.
Most people try company after company, pre-launch this, new matrix that, energy drink this, vitamin that… looking for THE one that’s going to be successful. But here’s the secret that you haven’t figured out yet.

2. Provide VALUE To Prospects – Stop Vomiting Your Opportunity All Over Them
Instead of blasting people with your opportunity via email, Facebook, in person, on the phone…whatever your method of operation is… Instead of that, you give them something of value – a piece of great training, a recorded webinar that taught you something useful, a link to an article that you found handy, an inspirational quote, a marketing tip that worked for you, a link to someone’s blog that has great information… I could go on and on with examples of things your prospects will find valuable. Get the picture?
Give them something good and they will be open to listening to what you have to say. Do it regularly. People will sign up. It’s the old “If You Build It, He Will Come” strategy.
3. Be Consistent
Providing value is great but if you’re not consistent with it, why would anyone pay attention? You must give this value to your prospects on a consistent basis so that they come to depend on you. They look forward to your emails. They actually run to open them. You want to condition them to open your emails, to look out for your posts, etc. on a daily basis. You’re training them to listen to you.
Results
One of two things will happen. Either they will call you asking about your business, and ready to sign up (Yes, this really happens to me on a daily basis!) OR they will be open to hearing about your opportunity when you bring it up…wouldn’t that be nice!? You know why? BECAUSE YOU’VE CONDITIONED THEM TO LISTEN TO YOU BY BEING CONSISTENT, AND PROVIDING VALUE.
It’s that simple. Follow this plan and they WILL come!

Well, that got your attention didn’t it. 3 Reps in one day! This is something that happened to me just 2 days ago. Imagine how your business would be if you could do that every day…or even every week? Well, I sponsored 3 reps in one day so I thought I’d share with you how I did it.

1. THE ATTRACTOR FACTOR
I attracted them to me. What on earth does that mean? Simple. I use the principles of attraction marketing as taught to me by Mike Dillard in his book, “Magnetic Sponsoring”…and here’s the tricky part – I applied them. Yes, I did not just read that book, I put the principles into my life, into my business, but most of all, into my marketing. And I do it on a daily basis. If you have not read this book and are wondering why you’re still not generating leads, read it now. If you have read it, and you’re still not attracting leads, read it again. But more importantly, read the next reason I sponsored 3 reps in one day:
2. PRECISION DECISION.
I decided to. Now that’s just crazy sounding, I admit it. If you haven’t slipped into this mindset yet, then that just sounds like B.S. However, if you can just slow down, and open your mind for a sec, read on. This is probably the most important reason I sponsored 3 people in one day. I reached a point, through working on personal development on a daily basis, that I just outright decided that I DESERVE it. I deserve wealth. Period. Frankly, there was a point that I just got a little angry. Darn it, I DESERVE IT! … It just came out of me.
3. UNIVERSITY OF FOUR WHEELS.
I live in Los Angeles. As anyone in Los Angeles can tell you, we Los Angeleans practically LIVE in our cars. So I turned my car into a traveling Personal Development University. I have tons of CDs in there from great leaders that I admire, and everywhere I go, I listen. Even if I’m just in the car for 10 minutes here and there. These guys travel with me. It makes a HUGE difference in my mindset.
You know how sometimes in this business, you can take a dip emotionally for whatever reason. Well, I noticed that during those dips, I attracted few leads and the leads I attracted were needy, desperate types. And then I noticed that on the days I was vibrating with PRECISION DECISION about my Network Marketing career, these amazing leaders came to me. It was crazy. I could really chart it on a graph.
So the thought occurred to me: How can I stay in this latter state of PRECISION DECISION, of posture and supreme deservingness more often. Seems logical right? Well, I started my University on Four Wheels and never looked back. I listen in the car, I listen on my iPod at the gym, I listen in bed before I sleep. I listen to inspirational people like Jeffery Combs, Erica Combs, Todd Falcone, Jim Rohn, etc…(there are too many to name). When I listen often, my head stays in the game and the leads who are leaders just come.
And you know what happens when I call them? They sign up. It’s really that simple.
So, if you’re looking for a quick answer, you’re probably disappointed. However, if you’re a leader waiting to happen, I bet I lit a spark in you just now. Let it turn into a flame. Become the leader you are and you will attract leaders, leads and reps on a daily basis.

I had a disturbing call recently with a prospect and I simply felt compelled to share it. I was speaking with a relative newbie the other day. I asked her what her struggles were with her Network Marketing business. She responded, as many do, that getting leads was a struggle.
She’d hit that oh-so-familiar position that many of us do when we are starting out and have no marketing training. The one where you’ve hit the NFL Club. NFL = No Friends Left. You’ve tried prospecting all your friends and family and now they avoid you like the plague.
What now? Where do you get fresh leads?
So, I was answering that question for this newbie marketer, giving her strategies on how to generate her own leads for free on the internet, etc., when she told me a disturbing fact.
I asked her what kind of training her upline was giving her. What did they tell her to do to get leads? She took a big sigh of frustration and told me that she was unhappy with her upline. They weren’t doing what they’d promised to do.
What, pray tell, was that?, I wondered.
It seems her upline had promised her that if she signed up at the highest level (read: most expensive level) in this company, that they would populate her downline with tons of reps for her. They would be her own personal downline builder. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.
This kind of thing makes me crazy! There are some unscrupulous marketers out there that, in the interest of signing up anyone with a pulse, will say whatever the prospect wants to hear in order to get them IN. Cha-ching.
My point here is this: MLM is not a get-rich-quick scheme. There is no magic formula for INSTANT success. No shortcuts. You have to put some time and effort in. This is a business. Can you imagine starting a brick-and-mortar type business and expecting a line of customers lined up around the block the next day. No way. You know that building that kind of a business takes time. Why would a Network Marketing business be any different in that regard?
Yes, there are ways to shorten that time significanly. Learning how to leverage the internet is one of them. And that takes training. And commitment. You can build a HUGE Network Marketing business online (or offline) with proper marketing and recruiting training and a commitment to be serious about it. A commitment to treat it as a business and not a hobby. Remember, a business pays and a hobby costs.
The lesson here is this… If you are being told that someone else is willing to do all the work for you, and you just have to sit back and collect the enormous checks, you’re being taken. If you’re told that all you have to do is sign up 2 or 3 reps and then just sit back and watch that matrix fill up, you’re being fooled.

Wake up and smell the cappuccino. Don’t allow yourself to be seduced into this kind of thinking.
If you’re serious about really building a Network Marketing business, make sure your company provides training beyond “Make a list of 100 people that you know and start calling”. Make sure before you sign up with a Network Marketing company that they give phenomenal training on offline recruiting skills as well as online lead generation skills and most of all, marketing.
But most of all, make sure that your upline is giving you honest information on what it takes to build a successful Network Marketing business. A good upline will recruit you, not because you have a pulse, but because they see a leader in you and they will help you bring that out and give you the skills and tools necessary to be a major producer.
So, trust your instinct. There are many amazing opportunities out there… Many ways to make a 6 and 7-figure income in Network Marketing. Find a proper mentor who can show you the way, and you will have the prosperous business that you deserve!

…I’ll give you a hint…they’re in the title of this article.
It can seem very daunting to talk to your mlm prospects at times. Perhaps you’re still a newbie, or you’ve had a bad day or whatever the reason. For many of you, even having done this for a while, you still get that anxious feeling in your stomach before (or during a call)… or worse yet, this anxiety keeps you from prospecting at all and turns you into a Master Procrastinator instead of a Master Closer and you start finding excuses not to get on the phone with your prospects at all. Disaster!
What sometimes happens is this…. So, you’re on the phone with a prospect and you suddenly blank… “What do I say to that???”, you’re thinking. Okay, when you get stuck, it’s always good to fall back on something comfortable – to whip a familiar tool out of your arsenal…
Open that tool chest and reach in there and grab these four words: “I just found out…”
So simple, but think of all the applications… Here are some examples of ways to use this simple phrase when you’re in a pickle.
I just found out how you can get gold and silver for very little cost and actually get paid in the process…Would you like to know how?
I just found out how to generate 67 leads from one email simply by cutting and pasting in 5 minutes flat…Wanna know how?
I just found out how to be at my son’s soccer game and generate 32 leads at the same time…Want to know how I do it?
One big thing though…did you notice that I always tagged a question on the end of the “I just found out…” You must do this if you want the conversation to continue…and you DO want it to continue now that you’ve piqued your prospect’s interest.
You can also use this as a great introduction when you’re out there in the world just doing your daily tasks…afterall, we’re always prospecting, right?
For example, you’re talking to your waitress at a restaurant; you’ve established a rapport. She’s got a great outgoing personality…you have an instinct about her entrepreneurial abilities. At some point during the conversation, you can say: You know Sue, I see how hard you are working, sweating, running around and expending all this effort just for few dollars here and there…Well, I just found out how you can earn $10,000 per month from the comfort of your home and never have to serve another dish again…Is that something you are interested in hearing more about?
If you do this right (and it’s pretty hard not to), they will be asking you to tell them about your business because you’ve piqued their interest. Isn’t it so much more fun to prospect when THEY ask YOU to tell them more!? YES!

Now I know that might sound a little harsh if you don’t understand my motivation. Here it is. I only sponsor SERIOUS marketers. Now a lot of marketers say they’re serious about getting into profit, achieving MLM succes and building an empire, but their actions say otherwise. If you think you’re in the latter group, read on.
There’s a big different between the two. Let’s talk about that for a moment.
There are two kinds of people in this world – there are those who say they’re going to do something, and those who actually do it.
Which one are you? Now if you’re really being honest with yourself right now, 97% of you are in the first category. 97% of you reading this article right now talk a lot about marketing and sponsoring, think a lot about marketing and sponsoring, but only 3% of you actually take consistent action on a regular basis and actually do it. Only 3% of you reading this right now do the work necessary to really find success in this crazy biz we call Network Marketing.
Isn’t that astounding? So, why is it that they don’t do what is necessary to build their personal empire and get into serious profit?
Answer: On some level they are blocking their own MLM success. Perhaps on some level, they don’t feel they deserve wealth and success. That is usually the case. Somewhere along the way, they learned that they don’t deserve it, shouldn’t ask for it and won’t get it anyway…so why bother. And although they want it badly, it won’t come until they shed themselves of these damaging beliefs and self-talk.
So, I won’t sponsor them…yet.
However, let’s look at what that other 3% is doing that makes them the kind of Marketer we ALL want in our downline.
This other 3% are doing the following:
- Working on their personal development on a daily basis.
- They have figured out how to get leads from at least 5 different sources
- They call their leads daily.
- They have more leads than they have time.
- They have a system in place with a targeted sales funnel that converts.
- They reach out and find successful mentors.
They are able to do this because they have a solid marketing plan that they execute on a daily basis. They don’t waste their valuable time getting ready to get ready. They take action. They do. But most of all, they have a firm belief that they deserve MLM success. These are the leaders that I sponsor.
These are the leaders you should be looking for when you sort and sift through your prospects. These are the prospects that will help you create their empire through their ability to lead and sponsor others. But before you can sponsor these leaders, you need to become a leader yourself. You need to become the leader that you want to sponsor.
That’s an important concept so I’ll say it again.
You need to become the leader that you want to sponsor. Then, and only then, will you start attracting the kind of downline that won’t just sit there collecting dust and then quit because ‘it doesn’t work”. THEN your empire will flourish.
